Introduction
I am Lola (meaning Grandma), itched by a tickling curiosity about how the world flourishes in social microcosms, each distinct yet all irrevocably linked. From that wonderment evolved Babyboomerlola.Com hinged on my personal philosophy that I share here with you.
What is Babyboomerlola.com (BBL)? It dawns on me after years of blogging and producing over 200 articles, that this website is in essence a chronicle of a hodgepodge of life’s episodes and proceedings in a delightfully and true-to-reality topsy-turvy fashion. Almost like a mirage that presents reflections in insipid ways.
A square and a rectangle each has four corners or nooks. The world is not a square or a rectangle. The world is a circle. It has infinite number of corners, a nook in every part of its circumference. All nooks threaded by a common strand that runs through every life of humanity. Yes, topsy-turvy in all its variants, but steadfastly connected.
That’s what Babyboomerlola aims to show, the richness of the diversity of life, young and not so young, old and not so old, simple or complex, blatant or obscure, loudly ominous or soothingly quiet, exciting or somber, crazy yet sane. The same strand, stretched and pulled, precariously at times but, at best, innocuous to the purpose of society’s soul. And from that, we build mutual respect and a common decency integral to the heart of humanity nurtured by the most gracious, benevolent, sovereign God.
Babyboomerlola.com offers meanderings from the heart. Looking back over the years, I recognize how much more I know now, how remarkably I’ve experienced the nuances of life, the summation of which is the wisdom of what and how much I’ve learned – through all the mesh and mush: gaiety grabbed, foolishness treaded, anxieties bashed, choices snubbed, ambition seized, triumphs celebrated, dreams chased, hopes abandoned, and wise counsel followed or wasted. The vortex of this wisdom is the humility of realizing the vastness of opportunity, experience, insights, lessons and care bestowed in generous measure by love and blessings.
My blogs will share observations, memories, thoughts, feelings, reflections. They will reminisce the “old days”, see how they compare with the changing times perhaps with some nostalgia sufficient to elicit gratitude for what was then that effected what has become. There, too, will be tid bits of significant trivia of the day, or flashbacks of episodes meaningful enough to remember and tell: random musings, mind teasers, contemplative cliffhangers, stories that may run the gamut from interesting, instructive, sophic, intriguing, amazing, to humorous or simply ridiculous or foolish.
I invite you to come step into my world – or, take a peek and linger a while. With variations, it could be your world, too.
